HURRICANE WARNINGS is a collection of verse written over a thirty year period that explores some of the important fundamental questions we are all asked to confront How do we respond when someone tries to make off with our personal and/or political freedom? How do we react to major life events such as birth, marriage, and death? How do we deal with the difficult people in our lives, especially when their mere presence cuts into our happiness? What tough choices are we expected to make when confronted by loss? The poems display a wide range, from the pure lyric to the dramatic monologue, from the sentimental to the downright harsh. Life can challenge us. Some of us give up; some of us move on towards personal fulfillment; all of us are changed forever.

Here is a treasury of poems regarding a wide range of reflections and experiences, written over the course of several decades, reflecting this talented poet’s lifetime of meditations on moving moments. They’ll touch and affect you as well. Creatively organized by the names of hurricanes, each of which - as the opening quotation asserts - bears its own personality, the reader’s journey unfolds alphabetically, as the poems present themselves according to the orderly naming convention of those unique storms themselves. Among my own favorites are “Always, Never, Again,” “Kindling,” “Lincoln Center Reflecting Pool,” and “Reality.” Though all are affecting, with over 100 poignant entries you certainly will find those that speak specially to you.Product details

Hurricane Warnings Collected Poems 19802013 T Richard Williams 9781491237670 Books Reviews
The multi-talented T Richard Williams shows his strength in the written word here in Hurricane Warnings. He ranks among the finest in the Long Island poetry scene. Reading "Brooklyn Invocation" will show you why. But throughout the book, he delivers, which is all any reader can ask of an author. He doesn't disappoint, giving depth, humor, reality, insight, fantasy, and art, along with any pleasure that poetry gives. "Killing Astrolabe" is the finest sci-fi poem I've ever read. "Only Heaven" is a daringly progressive piece that necessarily questions our foundations. I read poetry for many reasons, and I believe this collection has satisfied each one.
I find myself being drawn back to certain pages. This book is full of emotions and thought provoking imagery. It is sure to strike a chord on multiple levels. A true delight to read.
